Changing The Game

I rekindled my love for sports a few weeks ago when i did this shoot. I've never played tennis before so this one is new to me. However, i was a major sports kid; I use to do track and basketball, and i was really good at them both, especially tracks. I won a lot parish and national championships in basket ball and was even offered a scholarship to go play in Canada. Track & Field was always my favorite though; I still have all my medals (well,i think i do. If not, my nephews are to blame). I was being "shopped around" by my track coach to get selected by a school that had a great track team but it wasn't my passion so i lost interest and the offers faded and i went on to become the Grammy , Oscar, Fashion Icon Award superstar that i am today (there i go being delusional again, sigh)

2016 is the year we saw a MAJOR comeback of sports/athletic wear inspired trends and pieces. Major athletic brands like Nike, Adidas and Puma have all injected sports wear into the street style culture in a dope, hip and saucy way. Even high fashion brands such as Balmain, Tom Ford and Moschino, just to name a few, have been surfing the new athletic wave. We've seen hoodies taken from the basketball courts and bedazzled with diamonds - thanks to Balmain, and sneakers stepping away from court comfort to high end street fashion stunting, all thanks to Kanye. But this isn't nothing new. The culture of sports has always played an important part in street style. The 90's was notorious for mixing athletic wear into street style. Ya'll remember those Nike head bands and oversize jerseys? Sport brands for so long have been the MVP of fashion. Love it or hate it (i love it, obviously), you cannot deny the influence of sports in street fashion. They have for so long been creating and reviving trends. Athletic/sports wear totally and completely changed the game of street style this year and i am excited to see what the sports style world will come with next.
