*Cues sad goodbye song* So here we are again for the final part of my #Braawta photography series collaboration. This series has been an amazing one and hands down one of my fav sets that i have ever been apart of. Thank you so much to @WizzieDread for tapping me to be the first face/muse of her #Braawta series. I am grateful for the opportunity. Are you guys ready for the grand finale or nah? lol, lets get into it!
The photographer really wanted to incoporate elements of dancehall into the series so one of her wardrobe requests was for me to inject some 90's Dancehall style into it. She thought it would add some edge to the series which i agree it did. 90's Dancehall style was all about having and wearing a lot. Dancehall, especially in the 90's really established a signature style for dancehall which at the time was all about being flamboyant. Stacks of gold rings, chains and watches was iconic in the 90's which Shabba Ranks made super popular which helped established his signature style. From Super Cat's crazy hat game, Bogle's choker and spike jacket collection, Lady Saw's batty riders to Beenie Man's notorious printed suits, Dancehall offered it all and it offered it in excess.

Shabba Ranks is the most notorious and notable artiste from the 90's and so was his style. This look is heavily influenced by his style teamed up with the edge and gaudiness of Bogle's style. Layers of gold chains is a must have when trying to deliver a solid "Big dutty Shabba" look. He made wearing stacks of gold rings and chains an everyday normality for him. Shabba's sunglasses collection was not to be overlooked. His glasses played a huge part in his image as he would always be seen roc'ing glasses that were very unique at the time. His circular framed glasses later became his signature frame.

Bogle's style really amped up the 90's and early 2000's as well. He is hailed as Jamaica's greatest dancer and trend setter. Listen! this man wore spiked chokers! he had to be cool! His style and "crazy" dance moves made him stood out from the other dancers and catapolted him into a league of his own. His style was flamboyant, excesive and androgynous but still managed to look hardcore. He was known mainly for spikes. He loved spikes, studs, straps and patches and these little finishes became a big part of his style.
Dancehall style in the 90's was all about glamour. Ghetto Glamour. Despite finanacial struggles in the 90's, a "boasy" image had to be mainatined. To "maggle pan a mate" or to get "trailor load a gal", the style of 90's Dancehall served may purposes. The style of that era in Jamaica still impacts today's trends. The style of the 90's has survived decades and is alive and well in the 2000's and this outfit is a testament to that.
Have a great weekend Rocstars!
